Located in the northern part of Niigata Prefecture, the Iwafune region has long been a rice-growing region that makes use of the abundant water resources that flow from the Asahi mountain range. The quality of the rice is highly regarded not only within NIigata but also nationwide. This rice is grown in an area with particularly strong temperature differences, where extremely delicious koshihikari rice can be obtained.
While Niigata koshihikari is generally on the softer side, Iwafune koshihikari rice is characterized by its firm texture.
新潟県の最北部に位置する岩船地域は、朝日連峰から流れる豊富な水資源を利用する昔から米作りが盛んな地域です。お米の品質は県内だけでなく全国的に高く評価されています。 この岩船地域の中でも特に寒暖の差がしっかり生まれ、非常に美味しいコシヒカリがとれる場所で育てたお米なのです。
岩船産コシヒカリは新潟のコシヒカリが全般的に柔らかめなのに対して、しっかりした歯ごたえがあるのが特徴です。
