Pasco Choujuku Sliced Bread (6 Slices): Japan’s Everyday Loaf, Done Right

Choujuku has been a Japanese household favourite since it launched in 1998, and it’s easy to see why. The idea behind it is that bread you eat every day deserves extra care, so nothing goes in that doesn’t need to be there. 

Pasco’s own Choujuku method draws out the natural sweetness and aroma of the wheat, and you taste it in the first bite: a gentle, clean flavour with a moist, chewy texture. The recipe is short and honest: wheat flour, sugar, butter-blended margarine, yeast, salt, rice flour and brewed vinegar, with no emulsifiers, and about 3% of the flour is Japanese-grown Yumechikara wheat. It’s mild enough to go with anything, so it’s equally at home toasted with butter and jam, under a fried egg, or stacked into a sandwich. Each loaf comes cut into six generous slices, thick enough for a golden crust outside and a soft, springy centre.

1998年の発売以来、長く愛されてきた「超熟」。その人気の理由は、「毎日食べるものだからこそ、こだわりたい」という想いから生まれた、素材へのまっすぐな姿勢にあります。

Pasco独自の超熟製法が、小麦本来の甘みと香りを引き出し、ひと口食べればやさしい小麦の風味が広がります。もっちりとしっとりした食感も魅力です。原材料はとてもシンプルで、小麦粉、砂糖、バター入りマーガリン、パン酵母、食塩、米粉、醸造酢。乳化剤は使わず、小麦粉の約3%には国産小麦「ゆめちから」を使用しています。クセのないやさしい味わいなので、バターとジャムをのせたトーストにも、目玉焼きを合わせても、サンドイッチにしても楽しめます。6枚切りのしっかりした厚みで、焼けば外はこんがり、中はふんわりもちもち。いつもの朝ごはんが、ちょっと楽しみになる一斤です。
