Ichiba Junction
Ichiba Junction is an online Japanese grocery, trading since 1999 under Daiwa Food Corporation. We were one of the earliest dedicated Japanese grocery retailers in the country, born from a simple frustration: Japanese-Australian families and food lovers had almost no access to the everyday staples they grew up with — the rice, meat, and pantry brands that never made it past major supermarkets. So we went straight to the source.
Today we're a direct-sourcing partner to manufacturers from more than 30 large to niche brands carrying over 2,200 products spanning Japanese & Aussie rice, meat, condiments, frozen and chilled goods, snacks, non - alcoholic beverages, and Japanese gifts. Because we import directly and skip the usual middlemen, we're able to offer authentic Japanese groceries at fairer prices than most competitors, and because we source straight from the maker, we're able to stock harder-to-find staples that don't survive a longer supply chain.
Alongside our national online store, you can find us in person at Ichiba, our physical shopfront, where customers can browse the range and pick up online orders.
Quality
- Our Products are sourced overseas and local, and many of our frozen and chilled items — gyoza, karaage, fish cakes, tofu — travel and are stored in temperature-controlled conditions from the source. Despite the added cost, this lets us bring in fresh, hard-to-find staples that don't survive standard import methods, and deliver Australians authentic Japanese groceries.
Price
- Japanese groceries can be expensive in Australia due to exchange rates, import duties, and distribution channels. By purchasing directly from the manufacturer and selling to the public, we offer high-quality Japanese groceries at fair prices.
